¿Qué es el Scanning?
Scanning es una técnica de lectura rápida que consiste en mover los ojos velozmente sobre un texto en busca de información específica — un nombre, una fecha, un número, una palabra clave — sin leer el texto completo de principio a fin.
Imagina cómo buscas un número en una guía telefónica: no lees cada línea, sino que tu ojo "salta" directamente al apellido que necesitas. Eso es scanning.

The Amazon Rainforest: Earth's Green Lungs

Climate scientists warn that if deforestation continues at the current rate, the Amazon could reach a "tipping point" by 2040, transforming parts of the rainforest into dry savannah — a change that would be effectively irreversible.

Coffee is one of the world's most consumed beverages, with approximately 2.25 billion cups drunk every day around the globe. The plant, Coffea arabica, was first discovered in Ethiopia around the 9th century, where goat herders noticed their animals became unusually energetic after eating the berries.
By the 15th century, coffee cultivation had spread to the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Yemen, where the first coffeehouses — called qahveh khaneh — appeared around 1450. These establishments quickly became centers of social activity and intellectual debate.

Today, Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, accounting for approximately 35% of global production. Vietnam ranks second at around 16%, followed by Colombia at 9%. Together, these three countries produce more than half of the world's coffee supply.
The global coffee industry is worth approximately $495 billion annually. Finland leads the world in per capita coffee consumption, with the average Finn drinking around 12 kg of coffee per year. In contrast, the United States consumes the most coffee in total volume, importing over 27 million bags annually.

From ARPANET to the World Wide Web
The internet as we know it began as a military project in the United States. In 1969, the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) launched ARPANET, a network that initially connected just four university computers: those at UCLA, Stanford Research Institute, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Utah.
The first message ever sent over ARPANET was transmitted on October 29, 1969. The student operator, Charley Kline, attempted to send the word "login," but the system crashed after the first two letters — so the very first internet message was simply "lo." Full transmission was achieved about an hour later.
A crucial breakthrough came in 1983, when ARPANET adopted TCP/IP — the set of communication protocols that still powers the internet today. This date is often considered the true "birthday" of the modern internet. By 1984, the network had grown to connect over 1,000 hosts.
The World Wide Web — often confused with the internet itself — was invented by British scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 while working at CERN, the European physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. The Web made the internet accessible to the general public by introducing websites and hyperlinks.
By 1995, approximately 16 million people worldwide used the internet. By 2000, that number had exploded to 361 million. Today, over 5.4 billion people — roughly 67% of the world's population — are connected online, a figure that continues to grow every year.
